Planet Smasher Games is an independent tabletop games studio founded by Mike Hutchinson in 2015. I make unreasonably fun tabletop miniature games including Gaslands, A Billion Suns, Hobgoblin and Perilous Tales.

For this video I captured the whole process of making a miniatures game from start to finish. From the initial inspiration, through kitbashing the miniatures, kitbashing, painting and photographing the miniatures, prototyping the game, writing the rulebook, designing the ship cares, playtesting and publishing the game ... all in 48hrs! Play with 2-5 players, or by yourself with the included solo rules. Story game for 1-5 players, 1-2 hours, zero-prep. - One Player / Many GMs - Create tales of weird horror with your friends. - One player is the Narrator, speaking always in the first person. The others play as Architects, spending points to introduce characters, incidents and threats to which the narrator reacts and responds. - Solo rules for either spoken or written play. - Huge host of random tables to keep your imaginations firing. - A Lovecraftian story game that actually feels like a Lovecraft story. == One Player / Many GMs The Crawling Chaos inverts the traditional format of roleplaying games. How to play The Crawling Chaos RPG solo
Warhammer 40,000 and Elden Ring have been crafted to provide multiple different kinds fun. This allows them to appeal to multiple different types of players. How do they do this? How can you achieve this in your own designs? In this video, I explore a mental model I have developed for thinking about the four main sources of fun that games can provide. I hope this mental model allows you to better think about your own game designs and identify opportunities to add more fun for more types of players.
